On March 22, 2025, the 12th edition of the Cardinal Laurent Monsengwo Pasinya Chair Bible Conferences was held at the ITCJ. The overall theme of this conference was\u00a0Achieving forgiveness and liberation<\/strong>. Two presentations, a personal account, and a panel discussion made up this morning\u2019s training session, which was attended by nearly 300 participants both in person and online.<\/p>

Following Dr. Augustin SOME, S.J.\u2019s presentation of the case, Dr. Aur\u00e9lien FOLIFACK, S.J., delivered a paper on the topic:Anger and conflict management.\u00a0<\/strong>This subtheme draws inspiration from the teaching of Ecclesiasticus\/Sirach (Sir 28:1\u20137). This profound text warns against the destructive effects of anger and vengeance, while encouraging forgiveness and reconciliation. It also warns against the harm caused by gossip and slander, emphasizing the importance of self-control and kindness in human relationships. In a context where resentment can take root and grow, cultivating attitudes of forgiveness and love is vital. Ecclesiasticus reminds us that anger is the enemy of peace, and that managing our emotions is essential for building healthy and lasting relationships. As Christians and engaged citizens, we are called to become peacemakers, to embrace forgiveness as a deliberate choice, and to learn to manage our conflicts wisely.<\/p>

The second presentation was given by Dr. Augustin ATSIKIN, S.J., on the topic:\u00a0The Double Healing in Jonah: The Healing of the Prophet and the Healing of the People (Jonah 4:1\u201311).\u00a0<\/strong>The healing of the prophet Jonah, manifested through his repentance and obedience, is linked to the collective healing of Nineveh, marked by social and moral transformation. This process of \u201cdouble healing\u201d shows that the path of forgiveness, healing, and liberation does not concern only the personal\/individual dimension, but also has a profound social\/communal impact. Forgiveness and liberation are not merely individual acts, but collective processes. Healing is not limited to a spiritual or emotional act; it requires a collective commitment to reconciliation and liberation. Jonah, as a prophet, struggles with his own prejudices and anger, but he is also called to be an instrument of healing for a people in distress. As if to say, mercy, whether divine or human, can transform a nation, just as it transforms an individual.<\/p>

Moderated by Dr. Jean MESSINGUE, S.J., the panel brought together a legal expert, the founder of a new community, a psychologist, and an imam to discuss the topic:\u00a0Forgiveness, the path to peace,\u00a0<\/strong>an interdisciplinary approach that examined the concept of forgiveness and its impact on individual and community rehabilitation.<\/p>

The conference aimed not only to inspire participants to adopt a more peaceful and empathetic approach in their daily interactions, but also to raise their awareness of the importance of liberating forgiveness in building a harmonious and united society.<\/p>\t\t\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
